I recently stayed at the Marina beach hotel and had a marvelous time. Everything from the room being very clean to the service provided was excellent. We had 2 private tours with Duminda (Fort Galle) and Gayan (Sigiriya) who were very …
We stayed at Marinos Beach Hotel for a week in July 2023 and it was incredible! Our daughter was getting married in the area so family and friends all stayed there too. Everyone was happy with our choice. The hotel is beautiful, the grounds and pool are kept perfect. The rooms are immaculate, breakfast was delicious. Since so many wedding guests were staying at the hotel we held our welcome party at the beach front restaurant and day after party on the beach. Both events were amazing! The staff is phenomenal, they went above and beyond to make sure everything went perfect! The gentleman I dealt with the most was Antonios. He was amazing, incredibly organized, very friendly and accommodating. We can not say enough good things about this resort and wonderful staff. We will definitely return!!
Didn't stay at the hotel, only used the beach and the sunbeds behind the hotel. Awful experience with the staff - we paid for the sunbeds at the first row, some people of our party wanted to lay down on the sand next to the sunbeds but guess what! That's not allowed for some reason?!?! I tried to enquire into the reason but all I got was some unintelligible mumbling about some sort of tax reasons?? As far as I'm aware beaches in Greece are public. I've been to dozens other beaches in Crete and never encountered this issue. The staff wasn't nice about telling us off either, and that's in addition to the two sunbeds costing a whopping 8 euros! They also kick anybody out who dares to lay on the sand anywhere near their precious sunbeds (even when it's to the side and not at the front) - and all this is done by some intimidating bouncer in sunglasses. They also shoo away anybody trying to use the water hose that's located near the exit to wash their feet off the sand. I understand it's private property but then again - haven't had this issue on any other beach. Leaves bad taste in your mouth when you see some elderly couple being hastily prevented from briefly using the water hose with loud exclamations "this is private not public!!" Needless to say I'm not coming anywhere near this hotel in the future.
The hotel is privatizing the beach even though it is public. Completely disregarding the laws and the local people. I used only the beach where this hotel is located and the beach "bouncers" are outright rude and mean. You can't lay anywhere near their sunbeds, can not use the showers, and can not wash feet with the hose at the exit - "its all private." In addition to that, there are no lifeguards - no care for safety. One time we decided to rent the sunbeds for 8 euro. We were scammed because it turns out we were charged more than supposed to. The plan was that with 4 people, we got 2 sunbeds, and the rest would lay on the sand nearby. We were not even allowed to do that - cannot lay on sand nearby. In conclusion, the bouncers are rude in anything they say, everything is private on a public beach, people who aren't paying for their services are ostracized, scammers all the way!!!!! BEWARE!!!!
My boyfriend and I stayed at Marino's Beach Hotel for a week and absolutely loved our stay. The hotel itself is very clean, tidy and picturesque. The pool is very large and clean and the sunbeds in the garden area were well maintained and comfortable. All the staff at the hotel were very friendly and welcoming and even when we checked in late at night the man at the desk showed us to our room and gave us all the information we needed. The safe is €2 per day and towel hire was €5 for the entire stay which is slightly disappointing as they are both necessary for most guests. The room was spacious and clean and the air con unit worked perfectly. Our towels weren't changed frequently enough but we managed for the week. The website states the rooms have good soundproofing but I found that we heard lots of noise from our neighbouring rooms which was frustrating but could just be down to overly noisy guests. Breakfast was delicious! As a vegetarian I found that there were plenty of choices for hot food and cold food and I loved the Cretan dishes they served fresh. The hotel was right on the beach and had amazing views of the sunset.. we luckily had an ocean facing room. Sunbeds on the beach were €7 for a set which is a shame, I believe guests shouldn't have to pay for hotel sunbed usage. The restaurant/snack bar stopped serving food at 18:30 which is early but didn't cause too much of an issue as up the road there were plenty of tavernas and a supermarket. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Marino's Beach Hotel and would definitely recommend it.
I'd rate it 0 stars if I could. As a Greek, I recommend foreigners to find some other hotel, there's so many and way better than that for the same price. Staff was rude since we arrived, they'd ignore the complaints we made and treat us like 10 yo kids spending daddy's money (we're 21 btw). The room smelled horrible the second we got in and we realized the drain was clogged therefore the cause of the smell. The lock on the door was broken so we couldn't lock the room, which led to the cleaning lady opening the door every morning while we were sleeping. The room was not cleaned properly, I honestly don't know why there's so many good reviews about it ,though I suspect it's because they may be treating non Greeks differently. The showerhead was broken, and so was the metal soap holder. To top it off, we woke up one morning and found a small cockroach on the bed (note that they had cleaned the day before) and their excuse was that 'the hotel has a garden' . Breakfast was ok, not bad, but the waiter who served us was unbelievably rude. I have to mention that only one kind of hot coffee was offered so if you want to drink your morning iced coffee, you have to pay extra 2,5€ per cup. Very bad experience overall, would never recommend to anyone, extremely expensive and unacceptable environment/facilities/staff.
The hotel facilities , food , staff and location are par excellence .|Staff of agile and responds to the guests requests smilingly .|There is a mall accessible from within the hotel so one doesn't need to go out far for food should one want …
